ENERGY…WAVE…BREATH…MOVEMENT…MIND…MATTER
A Tantra Yoga Workshop with Master Tantric Yogini Mary Jo Fetterly, RYT-E500
How can we experience more joy, creativity and ease in our lives?
In the Yoga tradition PRANA is the term for ‘energy’.
PRA: The smallest particle of energy
NA : The organic intelligence
PRANA = The smallest particle of “The Intelligence”
Many thousands of years ago yogis developed sophisticated systems and techniques to ‘manage’ this powerful life force, many of which we see today, in our common culture, not even realizing their origin or true potential or application. Meditation, visualization, pranayama (breath control), hatha, kundalini, kriya, mudra, mantra, Ayurveda, cosmology, philosophy, astrology, and numerology. These are the practices & principals of Tantra Yoga.
PRANA, properly understood and directed has the power to HEAL, INSPIRE, REJEUVENATE, and TRANSFORM one’s life completely. You only need to learn the techniques and the right tools, applied at the right time. That is the promise of yoga.
Join Mary-Jo as she guides you expertly through a two hour class and learn how to free-up and manage your prana.
Find your PRANA – unleash your power and potential. For greater physical strength, health, more mental clarity, and boundless energy!
Mary-Jo Fetterly is the inspiration and founder behind Trinity Yoga Inc. a national teacher training, personal development and advanced studies yoga school. The devastation and challenges of a recent severe spinal cord injury haven’t held Mary-Jo back, she continues to inspire and coach individuals to live life to the fullest. A recent documentary explores how she utilize’s the gifts of yoga and alternative healing to challenge the ‘norm’ – and then some. It was only months after her injury, that Mary-Jo with the love and support of her incredible team, was back teaching – bringing the gifts of yoga through the powerful vehicle of Trinity Yoga to hundreds. No matter what the situation Mary-Jo believes we all have a “disability” to deal with, whether it is: physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, and it is within the capacity of each individual to transform, heal and rise above obstacles.

The Contemporary Art Gallery presents the first solo exhibition in North America of the work of Chinese artist Guo Fengyi (1942-2010). Self trained, she belongs to an older generation whose embracing of Chinese folk culture combines with traditions of wisdom and myth. Her large-scale drawings comprise intricate details and obsessive mark-making to articulate ideas of spiritual and metaphysical significance.
May 12th ~ 12pm – 4pm
Teaching Chair Yoga with Sylvia Smallman, E-RYT
Yoga, adapted to the chair, brings the benefits of the practice to those who are unable to participate in mat yoga. Though seated, all the systems of the body are moved through gently; significantly the musculo – skeletal, lymphatic, the joints, the circulatory and respiratory systems. As in all yoga classes, the participants leave feeling better physically and mentally. And I have have heard testament that many learn tools to improve not only their mobility but the enjoyment of their daily lives.
The workshop includes some basic theory including who comes to chair yoga, common pathologies, conditions, and challenges as well as adaptations. We will also weave the wisdom of the yoga sutras and the therapeutic model of the maya koshas into the fabric of the holistic practice. Designing any class is a creative process. Sequencing and rhythm will be addressed from the class opening to closing. A basic physical practice will be outlined and demonstrated, followed by group practice and discussion.
Yoga has been in my life for 40 years! My path led me to Kripalu School of Yoga for teacher training in 2003. Experiencing the healing power of yoga, I went on to study therapeutic yoga locally with Leila Stuart, and in India in the Krishnamacharya lineage, at Yoga Raksanam.
I continue to learn from respected teachers at conferences, workshops, retreats, webinars, and classes.Presently, I enjoy working with specific groups using chair yoga, (including Yoga Outreach),back care yoga (at Treloar Physiotherapy), yoga for the work place, (Emily Carr University and City of Vancouver), and developing practices with individuals. Sharing the wisdom of yoga is a joy and a privilege and I am grateful for all my teachers and students.
