Scholarship Application Form

Thank you for your interest in the Yoga Outreach trainings.

  • Scholarships are available for those who face financial barriers to attend this training even with the sliding scale. There are two kinds of scholarships available:

    Workstudy scholarships are for those who are able to pay a portion of the tuition (usually $180) and do some volunteer hours (not teaching yoga) ahead of the training. Typically this depends on your skills, availability, and what we need at the time. 100% scholarships are for those who do not have the financial resources to attend. These spaces will be prioritized for folks who have a deep interest in bringing this work to impacted communities. We encourage BIPOC and/or LGBTQ2SIA+, immigrant, and refugee folks, as well as those with a diversity of experience including but not limited to ability, mental illness, and/or neurodiversity to apply.

    Application Deadline for scholarships are 45 days prior to date of the course. You will be notified as soon as the scholarship committee has made a decision, approx. 30 days before the training. Approved workstudy applicants must complete volunteer commitment prior to attending the training.

  • Applicants with the following will be prioritized:
  • Keen interest in working with marginalized folks
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Applicants with current involvement, whether paid or volunteer, within the communities we serve.

  • Workstudy scholarship - This means you will pay a portion of the tuition (usually $180) and complete a volunteer assignment (not yoga teaching) ahead of the training. Please tell us a bit about your skills and experience so we have an idea of possible work trade. For example you may be a photographer or graphic designer or you have experience with grant writing or event planning.

  • 100% scholarship - Please tell us a bit about how you plan to use this training into your work. 100% scholarships are for those who do not have the financial resources to attend nor do they have the resources to offer volunteer hours in trade. These spaces will be prioritized for folks who have a deep interest in bringing this work to communities impacted by racism, hetero- and cis-sexism, and other forms of oppression.

  • Yoga Outreach is committed to increasing access to yoga across marginalized communities however we also recognize that there are many barriers to accessing training including but not limited to a lack of diversity and inclusion within yoga in Canada itself. In order to work towards equity we are reserving a minimum of one 100% scholarship spot (more as funds allow) in each training for BIPOC and/or LGBTQ2SIA+ folks. We also encourage those with a diversity of experience including but not limited to ability, mental illness, and/or neurodiversity to apply for scholarship. In order for us to best determine your eligibility please take a moment to let us know how your lived experiences intersect with diversity, equity, and inclusion as you understand it.
